Accreditation & Affiliations

CBU’s BBA program is affiliated with The Business Schools Association of Canada (BSAC). BSAC is a consortium that supports professional development, advocacy and research for business schools, through conference and communication.  This connection is invaluable and creates space for open dialogue and idea exchange for those that occupy senior positions within business schools.  In a business landscape that is constantly evolving, the ability to change is needed, and the need for current data and information can be obtained through this affiliation.

Partnerships

CPA

Cape Breton University, Shannon School of Business (SSOB), is a recognized partner of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Atlantic School of Business, which delivers the CPA program in the provinces and Bermuda on behalf of the profession. Within the Bachelor of Business Administration program, SSOB students can complete all 14 of the prerequisites required for direct admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) while completing their degree at CBU.

The Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) credential is the pre-eminent, globally respected business and accounting designation. It represents highly qualified professionals who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to providing the highest standards of accounting, ethics and best business practices. Successful graduates of the program will have met the requirements of a challenging and rigorous CPA pre-certification process that meets the needs of business, public practice and government.

CPHR

All students who graduate from the BBA, HR Concentration and who achieve an overall cumulative average of seventy percent 70% (B-) in the Program will be eligible to waive the National Knowledge Exam (NKE). The student will be required to be a member of CPHR Nova Scotia at the time of submission of the NKE waiver, will be responsible for submitting the NKE waiver form and paying the NKE waiver fee within twelve (12) months of graduating from the program. If the student does not achieve the required grade, they may still be eligible to write the NKE but they will not be eligible for the waiver.
