Senior Scholar

Avis Mysyk holds a PhD in Anthropology and is Senior Scholar (retired). Her research focuses on both the past–prehispanic and colonial–and the present of the town of Huaquechula, Mexico. Her articles have appeared in various journals, including Ancient Mesoamerica, Ethnohistory, Annals of Tourism Research., and Journal of American Folklore. Her current research explores how Huaquechula engaged with the colonial legal system to defend the rights bestowed on it by the Spanish Crown.
