Erin Keith

Assistant Professor in Education

Dr. Erin Keith is an award-winning instructor, author, researcher, and Assistant Professor at Cape Breton University. She is an Ontario certified teacher and member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). Her research focus is in relational spaces of EDIAD dialogue on decolonizing inclusive education through an affirming, strength-focused praxis of nurturing student wholism, fostering equity-responsive and identity-conscious teacher-leaders, and heartwork to engage students and families as equitable, caring partners. She holds a Doctor of Education from Western University and has published two books, Reframing Mental Health in Schools: Using Case Stories to Promote Global Dialogue (2022) and Decolonizing Inclusive Education: Centering Heartwork, Care, and Listening (2024). Her numerous book chapter and journal article contributions are related to teacher self-care, school-based mental health and well-being supports, reconciliatory pedagogies, and activist educational leadership.
