Cape Breton University invites applications for the role of Director of Human Resources, this is a Full-Time Continuing role.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to join the Senior Management Team as a key member, to lead Cape Breton University in promoting excellence and innovation in the delivery of Human Resources for the University. You will lead a talented and committed team of professionals who support CBU in all aspects of human resources management.
This role is responsible for, including but not limited to, overseeing all aspects of human resources management for the University such as employee and faculty labour relations; human resources planning and strategy development; policy development and implementation; training, professional development, and performance management. Additionally, as part of the Senior Management Team, you will contribute to the organization’s mandate by providing advice and guidance on all issues affecting human resources management to the Executive Team and other managers.
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, preferably with a Human Resources or Business focus. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in increasingly responsible positions in the Human Resources field specifically in a unionized environment is required. Proven experience with labour relations, negotiation and interpretation of collective agreements, and providing advice based on relevant legislation and regulation is necessary for success in this role. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, the ability to engage with a wide variety of people, the ability to actively listen and to be visible throughout the institution is crucial as the Director of Human Resources.
