Event Assistant

CBU invites applications for the Event Assistant. This is a full-time continuing position.

The successful candidate is a critical member of the Cape Breton University Events Team and plays a role in both the administrative side of events and the implementation. As part of the Strategic Communications Team, the successful candidate will work with and assist the CBU Event Specialists to ensure the success of institutional events, ensure all clients, both internal and external, have a positive brand experience that increase brand value and awareness and enhances the overall CBU experience.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients booking events at CBU
  • Coordinate room bookings requests via email and event management software
  • Respond to clients on event related queries
  • Provide administrative support in organizing, planning and executing institutional events
  • Assist in working with internal and external clients as well as event specific third-party vendors as required
  • Assist in office management and day to day operations including but not limited to handling event related paperwork
  • Ensure proper processes are followed as it relates to event management and expenses
  • Monitor and stock event and office inventory, supplies, and other needs as required
  • Assist with event set up and tear-down
  • Represent the Events Team on committees as required.

The union affiliation of this position is with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3131. Salary level is Band A5.
