Dalhousie University and Cape Breton University are excited to announce the creation of the Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC), set to welcome its first cohort in 2025. CBMC aims to enhance healthcare in rural Nova Scotia by training future physicians and advancing interdisciplinary research.

We are seeking a Faculty Development and Engagement Manager to advance the goals of medical education in faculty development, program development, and education research. Reporting to the Program Director and under the guidance of the Director of Faculty Development, the Manager will lead the administration, implementation, and evaluation of faculty development programs and workshops. This role involves developing teaching materials, consulting with faculty on instructional strategies, and contributing to the overall success of the program.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with faculty to foster engagement and support. You will identify and provide training for professional development, establish effective communication channels with faculty, and collaborate with faculty development managers at other medical campuses to ensure cohesive support. You will design, deliver, and evaluate faculty education programs, focusing on technical, instructional, and pedagogical aspects, and develop strategic approaches to prioritize faculty development needs.

Additionally, you will design and facilitate faculty development programming tailored to enhance teaching effectiveness and academic leadership. This includes conducting needs assessments, creating interactive workshops, and evaluating program effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics. You will also create templates for course development, collaborate with content experts, and provide support in using web technology.

Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Adult Education or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in adult education, educational technology, or a related field. Experience in medical education or academic healthcare environments is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of faculty development principles and best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-based environment are essential.
