The Department of Nursing in the School of Nursing at Cape Breton University invites applications for a full-time continuing position at the rank of Nursing Practice Educator.

The successful candidate will become a member of a progressive, energetic school. The Nursing Practice Educator (NPE) is a valued position within the Department of Nursing. NPEs work closely with nursing students taking a leading role in nursing practice education, supervision, and evaluation of nursing students in acute care, long term care and/or community agencies, as well as on-campus nursing laboratory instruction and evaluation.

Successful candidates will have:

  • a Master’s degree in Nursing or other health related discipline;
  • a minimum of five years of nursing practice experience;
  • an active practicing RN license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (or be eligible for) prior to commencement of this position;
  • completion of pre-clinical requisites such as immunization, CPR, Criminal Records check to become eligible to interact in clinical settings; and
  • experience teaching, mentoring, and/or preceptoring nursing students would be an asset.

If there are no applicants possessing a master’s degree in nursing or a health-related discipline, those currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program will be considered.

Clinical supervision occurs throughout Nova Scotia at various facilities and within numerous organizations. Applicants must submit clinical requisites such as a NSCN license and placement requirements (i.e. CPR, criminal records check, occupational health documents such as immunizations) upon hiring.

CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across and outside of Canada, and on-line. The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for faculty members to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload. While these opportunities may not be available equally for all faculty positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.
