Cape Breton University invites applications for the role of Senior Communications Specialist – Cape Breton Medical Campus this is a Full-Time Continuing role.

Dalhousie University and Cape Breton University are excited to announce the creation of the Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC), set to welcome its first cohort in 2025. CBMC aims to enhance healthcare in rural Nova Scotia by training future physicians and advancing interdisciplinary research.

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Communications Specialist to lead and manage communications for CBMC. This role involves crafting and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to elevate the campus’s profile and support its strategic goals. You will act as the main communications voice for CBMC, managing content creation, media relations, and event coordination.

The role includes developing and implementing a multi-channel communications plan for both internal and external audiences. You will be responsible for creating and managing content for CBMC’s website, publications, and social media channels. Additionally, you will serve as the media liaison, managing press releases and media guides, and coordinating CBMC-specific events and milestones. Support for the CBMC Program Director and collaboration with the CBU Communications team are also key aspects of the role.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field, with a Master’s degree considered an asset. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, preferably in an academic or medical setting. Proven experience in event planning and coordination is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership abilities, creativity, and organizational skills are necessary for success in this role. The ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
