Cape Breton University invites applications for the Student Placement Officer in the department of Career Services. This is a full-time continuing role.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of a community-based experiential and work-integrated learning strategy while working in collaboration with the academic schools. In this role, you’ll support students through internships, co-op placements, and community learning activities, playing a crucial role in their career development.

As a Student Placement Officer, you’ll facilitate both paid and unpaid work placements, working closely with employers to create valuable learning opportunities. You’ll design and deliver career readiness programs, including resume writing and interview preparation, while supporting students and faculty with capstone projects and experiential learning assignments. Managing a diverse caseload, you’ll handle documentation and program promotion, and assist with funding applications and event planning to enhance student and community engagement.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business or Community Development and experience in career development or student placement. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software, are essential. You should be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks effectively, and be flexible with occasional evening and weekend work.
