Everything You Need to Know About Your Guard.Me International Health Insurance [2 min read]

Are you an international student planning on attending CBU in the future? Or maybe you’re already enrolled? This article is for you.

At Cape Breton University, it is mandatory for all international students to have health insurance coverage through CBU’s guard.me international health insurance plan. So, what is it and what do you need to know?

Guard.me is a solutions-focused health and wellness insurance provider for international students. Their knowledgeable and friendly team deeply understands the unique journey each international student is on, and how an unexpected medical bill or mental health concern can bring it all to an abrupt halt. No matter the situation, the team at guard.me is dedicated to helping you find a solution.

To ensure your protection against unexpected medical costs, all new students are automatically enrolled in Plan A of guard.me’s international health insurance plan effective on the start date of their first semester. The cost of this plan for the 2024-2025 academic year is $1283.00, which will be charged directly to your Compass Student Account

Some things guard.me covers include hospital services, physician fees, laboratory (blood work) and diagnostic testing (x-rays or ultrasounds), prescription medication while hospitalized and more. For further details, please refer to the guard.me insurance policy.

While the hope is always that insurance will not be needed, it is critical to have protection that enables you to easily access health services when you need them, while in Canada. Instructions on how to access your guard.me Healthcare Access Card can be found in your CBU student email.
