Understanding Your CBUSU Health Insurance Plans as a Canadian Student

All Canadian students enrolled in at least 9 credits at Cape Breton University by the add/drop date of the current semester, and who are paying Students’ Union fees, will be automatically enrolled in the CBU Students’ Union’s Campus Trust health and dental plans. With the yearly costs being subject to change, it’s recommended that you regularly check the CBUSU webpage for up-to-date information.

You are eligible to opt-out of the CBUSU plan if you have your own coverage through an employer, a parent or are sponsored by an Indigenous Band Council. Students who fail to opt-out before the add/drop date will have their student accounts automatically charged for the two plans. If you wish to opt-out you can visit this webpage for a step-by-step guide. It’s important to remember that you need to opt-out annually.

If you’re interested in remaining on the CBUSU plan, you can access your benefit cards by visiting www.cbusu.drawbridge.ca. Once on the site, you will need to register to confirm your identity. After you have confirmed your identity, you will have access to your benefit cards and have the ability to submit claims and track your usage throughout the year.

For detailed information about eligibility, how to add dependents, frequently asked questions, and other health and wellbeing resources available to you at CBU, please visit the Canadian Student Insurance webpage.

If you have any additional questions about the CBUSU Campus Trust health and dental plan, please call the Students’ Union at 902-563-1192 or email su_administration@cbu.ca.
