GuardMe Student Support Program
Get support when you need it most.
Studying at college or university whether in another country or another city can be a wonderful and exciting life experience. But it can also be a time of tremendous stress and isolation as you learn to navigate a new landscape and begin campus life.
The GuardMe Student Support Program is a support service available to eligible International students that can help them with challenges faced when studying or living abroad. You can contact GMSSP anytime – day or night – to speak with a Counsellor who has experience supporting the unique challenges students face.
The GMSSP portal provides access to:
- Real-time support available via telephone and chat. Appointment-based support is available via telephone, video and in-person.
- Multilingual mental health care for students around the world.
Students can also access these supports via the MySSP app. MySSP provides access to a wide variety of multilingual self-help resources, including articles, videos and assessment tools.
Accessing MySSP:
- Download the MySSP app, available on all mobile devices in the App Store.
- Input your information and set up your profile. This is important as it will allow you access to the entirety of GMSSP’s services, as well as link to CBU specific services.
- Start accessing services.
- To start a phone call: Click the phone icon in the top right-hand corner or click the “Contact” tab at the bottom of the screen.
- To start a chat conversation: Click the message bubble icon in the top right-hand corner or click the “Contact” tab at the bottom of the screen.
- If you are currently outside of Canada: use one of the two following options to avoid international phone charges.
- Start a phone call. When you connect with your counsellor, indicate that you are calling internationally and request that they call you back. Provide your phone number. The counsellor will call you as soon as possible. Incoming calls do not collect charges.
