Career/Job Fair

Graduating soon?  Looking for a summer job or a volunteer experience? 

The CBU Career/Job Fair is the perfect opportunity to network with amazing organizations.

Career Fair Tips:

Before the Fair:

  • Attend a workshop to help you polish your resume and prepare for a career fair (register via mycareer.cbu.ca)
  • Ensure you have enough copies of your resume and that it is impeccable
  • Think about your job and/or career goals and target which employers you want to meet
  • Prepare an elevator pitch:
    • Introduce yourself
    • Mention your program of study
    • Describe the type of work being sought (summer, internship, co-op, full-time)
    • End by outlining what you can do for them (past experiences/education and other relevant information)
    • Think about your job and/or career goals and specifically target which employers you want to meet

During the Fair:

  • Present yourself as you would for an interview, dress for the job
  • Be polite and wait your turn to speak, employers will notice this
  • Thank the employer for their time
  • Document which employers you spoke with and make note of any feedback and/or follow-up instructions

After the Fair:

  • If you are directed to submit an application/resume online, do so as soon as possible
