CBU Chemistry Department Presents: Liquid Legacy – Asbestos, Coal and Gold Mine Water Research in Southern Africa with Dr. Christian Wolkersdorfer

Join the CBU community on Thursday, September 12, from 11:45am-1:00pm in Room SB-200 or online as the CBU Chemistry Department will be hosting a presentation from Dr. Christian Wolkersdorfer, Liquid Legacy – Asbestos, Coal and Gold Mine Water Research in Southern Africa, as a part of their Fall 2024 Teleseminar Series.

Dr. Wolkersdorfer is a mining and geothermal hydrogeologist who specializes in mine water tracer tests, density stratification, mine water geochemistry and remediation. He has over 33 years of professional experience, has published and edited over 250 papers, books and book chapters in various journals and proceedings about hydrogeology, archaeology and other mining related topics. Dr. Wolkersdorfer is also the Technical Editor for the Journal Mine Water and the Environment, the President of the International Mine Water Association (IMWA), member of the Academy of Sciences of South Africa (ASSAf), the Industry-Academia coordinator for the Mine Water Division of WISA (Water Institute of Southern Africa) and he is a member of the Global Alliance.
