Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre Announces Auditions for 53rd Season of Plays

Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre invites students, employees, alumni and community members to audition for the 2024/25 season of plays. Auditions will take place at the Boardmore Theatre located on the CBU campus on Saturday, September 14, from 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, September 15, from 1:00pm-5:00pm.

This marks the 53rd year of the Boardmore Theatre hosting plays for the Cape Breton community. Each year, the season includes a combination of short and full-length plays. Always willing to push boundaries and try new things, Boardmore Theatre Director, Todd Hiscock, is thrilled to be kicking off another season.

“The Boardmore Theatre prides itself on its community engagement. Our doors are open to all who are interested in the practice of live theatre,” says Hiscock. “ It is through this community connection that we have been able to develop a strong team of directors, such as Russell Colman, Jule Ann Hardy, Yufeng Ai and Holly Schaller, all of whom will be leading one of our main stage productions this year.”

The Boardmore Theatre, the central hub for the performing arts at Cape Breton University since its inception in 1979, is proud to present another unique and diverse lineup for the upcoming season. This season will include productions such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The Sadness of Comedy, Bello, the One-Act Play Festival and the Youth Festival. Each offers a different theatrical experience that explores various themes and styles, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Boardmore Theatre welcomes individuals from all backgrounds with varying levels of experience to take part in this opportunity. Auditioners are asked to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue and bring a recent photo of themselves. Those interested in non-acting roles are also encouraged to sign up.
