The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) presented Cape Breton University with the Human Resource Leadership Award for their Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHTM) program.
The award is presented to an organization who has excelled in efforts to develop tourism on a provincial, national, or international basis, and whose activities have made a major impact on tourism and culture in Nova Scotia.
The BHTM program at CBU is built on a more than 30-year reputation for educating high-qualified personnel for the hospitality and tourism industry. TIANS recognized CBU for demonstrating exemplary leadership in the development of future professionals for the tourism industry through education and training.
“Our BHTM degree blends tourism management and practical skills to prepare passionate students for a career in a rapidly expanding industry,” says Hospitality and Tourism Management Instructor, Jennifer Currie. “This is critically important as the industry worries more and more about labour shortages.”
CBU has seen steady growth in the degree program and currently has over 325 active BHTM students. To learn more about the BHTM program visit: www.cbu.ca/bhtm
