Qualtrics Research Software

General Information

Cape Breton University has an institutional license for Qualtrics that provides eligible CBU users with free access to the platform’s software for conducting online surveys.

Qualtrics offers:

  • A large repository containing various formats for survey questions and responses
  • Graphic tools to visually represent findings
  • Automated data analysis
  • Advanced workflow and reporting options

Additionally, Qualtrics provides robust support for users that will answer your questions concerning creation, revision, and distribution of surveys.

Qualtrics Features: Survey Design and Management

Survey Builder: A drag-and-drop interface allows users to easily create and arrange surveys with customizable elements and advanced logic.

Question Types: Offers a wide range of question types, including multiple choice, text entry, and matrix questions, to capture diverse data.

Templates: Provides pre-designed survey templates that can be customized to fit specific research needs and branding requirements.

Survey Distribution: Facilitates distribution through various channels, including email, social media, and QR codes, with targeting and sampling options.

Data Reporting and Analytics: Delivers real-time reporting and advanced analytics tools for visualizing and interpreting survey data effectively.

Research Collaboration: Enables team collaboration with shared access, role-based permissions, and version control for managing survey projects.

Eligible Users

Eligible CBU users include faculty, students supervised by a faculty member, and administrative staff working on research or academic projects.

Data

Security: Data collected will be stored in a data center in Toronto, Canada. See Qualtrics Security Statement.

Privacy: Qualtrics collects identifying information by default. To disable this collection and anonymize responses on your survey, please see Security Survey Options. For information on how to delete your data from Qualtrics servers, see the Qualtrics Support page on data deletion.

CBU-licensed Qualtrics is for professional use only. Users agree to use the platform solely for academic, administrative purposes, and to assume responsibility for any unauthorized use, misuse, or illegal use of this resource.

Eligible users and others granted access to use Qualtrics are responsible for knowing and complying with the following policies and terms of use:

  1. Researchers must comply with the CBU Integrity in Research Policy
  2. Researchers must obtain CBU Research Ethics Board (REB) approval before publishing a research survey. You can find more information and the link to the REB application form here.
  3. Canada’s Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS-2) outlines the ethical responsibilities for researchers at Canadian postsecondary institutions.
  4. CBU researchers must ensure compliance with Qualtrics Terms of Service.
