Every student is different. Every student has their own path to success, their own life journey.

At Cape Breton University we give students the choice to complete or advance their educational goals in a way that makes sense to them. It’s a way that fits their lifestyle, responsibilities, timeline and goals. Because continuing your education doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all solution.

CBU lets you do it your way.

So, let’s get started.

Transferring to CBU

Step by step

CBU welcomes all students, past and current, with an interest in continuing their education. Credits do not expire, so picking up where you left off is easier than you think.

If you have completed courses at another recognized post-secondary institution, you may be able to transfer those courses to Cape Breton University, avoiding duplication of course work and extra expense for your education.

Transfer credit assessments for new students at CBU are coordinated by the Registrar’s Office. Course equivalencies are continuously reviewed by the Registrar’s Office and/or individual Departments and are subject to change.

Note: Transfer credits will only be assessed once a student has applied and is accepted by CBU. Follow the Transfer Checklist steps and contact transfer_credits@cbu.ca for more information about transfer credits.

Articulation Agreements

Cape Breton University has many articulation and transfer agreements with various partner institutions and organizations across Canada and internationally. This supports students in gaining credit toward a degree or diploma at Cape Breton University.

What is an Articulation Agreement?

Articulation Agreements (also called transfer agreements or transfer pathways) document a pathway between two or more colleges or universities and their academic programs. The Articulation Agreement is an official guarantee that classes completed at one school will be accepted when a student transfers to another school. Cape Breton University has over 300 Articulation Agreements with accredited colleges and universities throughout the world.

Students transferring to CBU under an Articulation Agreement should review CBU’s General Admission Requirements, information about Articulation Agreements and should connect with a CBU Recruiter to discuss their application.

Active Articulation Agreements

CBU provides a searchable database of active Articulation Agreements that Cape Breton University has with institutions across Canada and the globe. This table is to be used for planning and informational purposes only, and is best accessed on desktop.

Note: CBU endeavours to ensure the completeness and accuracy of this information, however, the University reserves the right to change any of the information at any time without notice. Please contact transfer_credits@cbu.ca for more information on Articulation Agreements.
